Turkish lesson
Our goals:
Developing our students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills
Ensuring that they use Turkish correctly, beautifully and effectively
Providing them with a love and habit of reading and writing
Ensuring that they express their feelings and thoughts verbally and in writing
Developing their skills in researching, discovering, interpreting and mentally structuring information
Developing their skills in accessing, organizing, questioning, using and producing information from printed materials and multimedia sources
Ensuring that they understand what they read and evaluate and question it with a critical perspective
Our program:
- “Sound-Based Primary Reading and Writing Instruction” has been adopted for our first grade students.
- After completing the reading and writing process at the end of the first term, the program includes activities to improve reading speed and reading comprehension skills.
- Listening, reading comprehension, vocabulary development and writing activities are supported with children’s literature books selected in accordance with PYP transdisciplinary themes.
Math class
Our goals:
- Realizing the fun side of mathematics
- Acting on the principle that every child can learn mathematics
- Teaching how to use mathematics as a tool for problem solving, reasoning and communication
- To show the applications of mathematics in daily life
- Developing mathematical concepts and skills
Our program:
- Our first-year mathematics program consists of four learning areas: “Numbers and Operations,” “Geometry,” and “Measurement and Data Handling.”

Life Sciences Lesson
Our goals:
- Developing basic life skills such as research, perceiving change and continuity, balanced nutrition, protecting nature, entrepreneurship, cooperation, self-management, problem solving, social participation and time management.
- Enabling them to be the subjects of their own learning
- Helping them explore and understand the world
- To ensure that they have information about Atatürk’s life and national values.
- Encouraging them to be environmentally conscious individuals
Our program:
- In our school, all the achievements of the MEB life sciences course are taught to our first-grade students in a thematic and questioning manner within the scope of PYP transdisciplinary themes.
- The achievements are supported with children’s literature books, interviews, films and provincial trips suitable for transdisciplinary themes and achievements.
- The program is enriched by conducting experiments in a laboratory environment on the themes of the functioning of the Earth and Sharing the Planet.
- Within the scope of the life sciences course, the following MEB learning outcomes are covered throughout the year to develop PYP learner profiles and research, thinking, communication, social, and self-management ATL skills.
